BUYING A PUPPY

We breed Labrador Retrievers, Cocker Spaniels, and Springer Spaniels throughout the year focusing on Spring and summer. All parent dogs undergo extensive health testing to ensure we are producing the fittest puppies possible to have long healthy lives.

We require all prospective clients to visit our headquarters before being added to a waiting list. During this visit, you will be introduced to the extended family of the 25 years of our dogs – parents, aunts, grandparents, and often great-grandparents – giving you the best possible idea of what your future puppy will grow into. We’re also happy to show you the wider family of both Labradors and Spaniels and help guide you in choosing the right breed for your lifestyle. Each dog which you’ll see can be traced back to our original dogs some 15+ generations ago.

Puppies are ready for collection at no earlier then 10 weeks of age as they’ll have received both vaccinations and be physically more robust. We will select the puppy for you, as having raised them since birth, we understand their personalities and temperaments, allowing us to match the right dog to your lifestyle and goals.

You will receive our written training instructions when you collect your puppy, and we encourage you to follow our training videos on our YouTube channel, where we’ll often be training the relatives of your puppy.

Buying a Trained Pet

We offer a highly successful and sought-after trained pet. These dogs will walk to heel both on and off the lead, recall, and be well socialised with children. They will have undergone extensive training in town environments, visited cafés, and be ready to integrate smoothly into family life.

As with all our dogs, we require prospective clients to visit our headquarters to meet us and the dogs. You will receive regular updates on your dog’s training and are welcome to visit throughout the process to be trained along with your new family member.

The dog will spend time in our reception, visiting cafés, vets, parks to become accustomed to daily activity. While in home and office settling calmly in their bed, as well as time in the trainer’s home to ensure they are fully house-trained.

We do everything possible to prepare each dog for its future lifestyle. On any given day our dogs will be by our trainers side as they cast a rod, swing a golf club, ride ATVs, or spending time on boats. They will meet farm animals, domestic animals and wildlife to ensure a well rounded level of self control.

Because we breed calm, reliable dogs, many go on to become assistance dogs—whether as companions for autistic children or fully trained assitiance dogs. Whatever your requirements, we will ensure your dog transitions seamlessly into its new home.

Buying a Trained Gundog

The foundation of our work over the past three decades has been the trained gundogs. Whether for pheasant shooting in Britain, quail in the American South, or duck hunting in the Midwest, our dogs perform to the highest standard in any environment.

You will receive regular updates on your dog’s progress, and we strongly encourage visits so you can learn about both the training process and your dog. By the time of delivery, the dog will be fully trained—but it’s equally important that the owner is prepared.

We offer international delivery, with dogs placed in 37 U.S. states and 35 countries worldwide. A member of our team can personally deliver your dog, settle them into your home, and take the time to guide you through the dog—and even join you out on a days hunting, season permitting.

Due to their adaptable and capable abilities, we’ve worked with several government agencies across the world to provide detection dogs.

A particularly popular offering in the United States is our “Hunting Labrador.” Unique to Mordor, these Labradors quarter like spaniels for upland hunting while retaining the calm, steady temperament expected of a Labrador at heel and in the home.

A trained gundog from Mordor will spend weekdays enjoying long walks, playing with children, and accompanying you to the pub—and when the weekend arrives, perform in the shooting field.

KEY DOG BREEDS

We specialise in three dog breeds:

Labrador retrievers

English springer spaniels

Cocker spaniels

Throughout the years, we have had many litters from our bitches/stud dogs and when it comes to breeding there is definitely a Mordor Gundogs ‘way’ – we constantly look for solid temperaments and good looks.

Our clients are in the forefront of our vision when breeding dogs. Always being fully aware that different homes and families require slightly different types of dog. As well as assessing the family’s needs we also look closely at each of the puppies, ensuring we help to select the right one from each litter for the right role in the future.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS ON BREEDING

We are always keen to hear from our clients and continue to purse the excellence of our services.

Canine Partners is very pleased to be associated with Charlie Thorburn, breeder and trainer, and most grateful for the practical support he has shown in offering a fine young dog to us – to train as an assistance dog – helping to open doors for independence for people with disabilities. We depend upon splendid people like Charlie to help the Charity in its mission to transform peoples’ lives. Our dogs are trained over two years, to learn up to a hundred discrete commands and not only provide practical assistance to their human ‘partner(s)’, but also companionship and therapeutic benefit. Our dogs pay for themselves six times over in social care terms. Recruiting dogs like those bred by Charlie Thorburn means we can depend upon quality and consistency and ensure the best possible outcome for our canine partners and their human recipients.
